A new year in Alabama, January 2011

Well, it's almost 2011!
On New Year's Eve day we went to lunch with Ruth and Wendall. We ate at Doc's Seafood Shack in Orange Beach. We had excellent fish! From there Wendall shared with us the location where he buys his fresh seafood while staying in the Gulf Shores area. Aguilla Seafood Market is on the Bon Secour River.

I took this picture of a shrimp boat docked next to the shop.

After we got back to our campground, and yes, we are still at Doc's RV Park, we went next door to Dick and Donna's for an evening of snacking, playing dice and laughing. Of course, we had a few cocktails, too. I made my Key West Rum Punch and shared with Denise, from the office, Ruth and Donna.

On New Year's Day, I fixed shrimp cocktail, fried coconut shrimp, scalloped oysters and scallops wrapped in bacon. It was a seafood feast!

Rick and I decided to head towards Fort Morgan on Sunday. We saw these oil rigs in the bay.

On Tuesday, Dick and Donna were ready to go for a ride. It was a beautiful day, especially for January the 4th! We took them over to Perdido Key, FL and the Gulf Islands National Seashore....absolutely gorgeous!

We were still taking pictures when the workers that had been cleaning the beach headed in for the day.

Although you can't tell by this picture, the line of workers was as long as the eye could see along this beautiful beach.

On the way home, we went in search of a BBQ place and found Fat Backs BBQ. It's on Highway 10 and a wonderful smoky, delicious BBQ! Great choice!
